A 25-year partnership.
andwis lifts has a long-standing relationship with The Housing Plus Group, providing lift maintenance and repair services across its housing portfolio in Shropshire and Staffordshire.
The relationship between andwis lifts and Housing Plus Group dates back to 1999, making it one of the company’s long-standing maintenance partnerships. Throughout that time, the focus has remained the same - keeping lifts safe, reliable and available for the people who depend on them. For elderly and vulnerable residents in particular, a reliable lift can play an important part in maintaining independence. By combining local engineering support, 24/7/365 response and careful customer service, andwis lifts continues to support residents across Housing Plus Group‘s homes.
Many of the lifts serve homes occupied by elderly and vulnerable residents, making reliability incredibly important. When a lift is unavailable, the impact can go far beyond inconvenience, so the service is built around safety, quick response times and keeping downtime to a minimum.
The Challenge.
For some residents, a working lift is essential to being able to leave or access their home independently. This means that any faults need to be dealt with quickly, particularly where a resident has become trapped. The contract has a target response time of within four hours for non-emergency callouts and within one hour for emergencies. The team must also carry out maintenance and repair work within occupied residential buildings, where extra care is needed around residents and their homes.
Resident Safety
Working in social housing requires more than just maintaining the lift. Before work is carried out in occupied buildings, detailed risk assessments are completed to manage issues such as noise, dust and trailing cables. Engineers also follow security measures including photographic identification and password checks when accessing residents’ homes. Regular communication with contract managers, scheme managers and residents also helps the team plan works with the needs of those living in the building in mind.
A Local Team.
The contract is supported by around 40 engineers from the andwis lifts Midlands team, providing the local resource needed to respond quickly across the portfolio. Engineers operate from fully stocked service vehicles carrying commonly required spare parts. This allows faults to be diagnosed and where possible, repaired during the first visit, helping to get lifts back into service sooner.
Using Simpro to Manage Maintenance
andwis lifts uses Simpro to manage work across the contract, including scheduling, service appointments and the repair history of individual lifts. The system links with handheld technology used by engineers in the field, allowing work orders and progress updates to be recorded in real time. Engineers can also upload photographs from site to support fault finding and provide a clear record of completed works. This helps the team coordinate workloads better and monitor performance, whilst giving the client clear information on activity across the portfolio.
